Dear Parents with Virtual Students,

Yes, I am talking to you. I see you.

I see the way you struggle to juggle work, a household and daily responsibilities, having infants/ toddlers in the home, sorting through the 5000 daily emails from Teachers and Admins... while trying to keep up with the multiple logins for apps, emails, the different codes for Google Meets - the different platforms and links that will sometimes work, but then sometimes not.

I see you are overwhelmed, stressed and feeling inadequate. I know you have that feeling that you should be doing more. I see you struggling with feeling as though your children are missing out while also worrying that they will be falling behind in their education. I see you running back and forth every couple of minutes, all day long,  between your kids - while trying to cover new materials, check in on progress, help with school work and technology difficulties. I see you trying to find ways to help your children connect with their classmates.

I see you running around like a chicken with their head cut off trying to pick up the messes from your little ones in between all the school chaos. I see the meltdowns from younger siblings not understanding why their older siblings can't play with them.

I see the parents who have been humbled by this experience - gaining a new perspective and appreciation for their children's teachers. Teaching is definitely not for the faint of heart. I always message my friend and family who are teachers and tell them, I don't know how they do it. I have 4 children of my own, and struggle. I don't know how they do it with 20-30 children.
I see your frustration when technology isn't working properly. I see the struggle of wondering if you should upgrade your internet to handle the bandwidth that you need to school multiple children online. I see you rushing back and forth between your children, trying to help with what they need while also trying to give them the space to learn and to grow independently. I see the confusion in your face when your children can't remember what assignments they were supposed to be doing. I understand your frustration when you think that your children have completed their assignments only to log in and see there are still 20 assignments due for the week. I see as you try to encourage your children to focus to get them done, all while still trying to get things done that you need to.

I see you, trying to help your child with a short attention span learn to focus. I know it can be frustrating, when they are easily distracted.  I see you... The Parents who are watching as this process breaks down your child mentally to the point of tears. You can see them stressing and overwhelmed... You grab them in your arms and hug them, while also crying because you know all too well that stress that they are feeling.

I see the parents who are working but are still trying to be there for their children. You're hard work and concern don't go unnoticed. It may not feel like it, but I promise your kiddos are so grateful for all that you do for them... To keep a roof over their heads, food in their bellies and the comfort of a happy home.

At the end of the day, when the kids are fed, bathed, and in bed - I also see the parents who are exhausted. The ones who are suffering from migraines. The ones who don't have time to themselves to decompress. The Parents who love their children so much - but also know that they need their own time and space.  I see the late hours that you put in when the house is all quiet, so that you can get done what you have needed to get done all day but weren't able to.
I just want you to remember, you are not alone... If you need someone to talk to, vent to, cry to... I am here. I hear you. I see you. I am here to validate you and your feelings.
You don't have to carry the weight of the world and it's chaos on your shoulders. It's okay to feel overwhelmed, it's okay to feel all the feelings that you are feeling. This is the new normal for us, right now. You can't shoulder the full responsibility. Have faith in your teachers, they know what they are doing.

It's impossible to be everything to everybody all of the time. So please, take it easy on yourself. If you or your child is struggling - take that break. You can always message your child's teacher and let them know what is going on.

We are all in this craziness together.  Don't panic. Encourage yourself and your children to do the best that they can at that moment. There will be things that are not in your control. Let them go. Don't stress it. You are doing the best that you know how - with the cards that you have been given. You are doing great. And if you need a "reset" take it. You both will become more resilient in the long run. Know your limits. Listen to your body. Take a deep breath and know that I am right here, cheering you on! You got this! And if you are having a hard day, I am only a DM away.

Easter is such a special family day...
I personally don't love cooking when I would rather be coloring eggs and talking to the kids about the real meaning of Easter... I decided to throw together a list of Chain Restaurants that are open for Easter Takeout. Enjoy!

Bahama Breeze
Bahama Breeze is offering two “Take & Bake” options available for no-contact curbside pickup or delivery: Take & Bake Ribs and Take & Bake Jerk Chicken Wings. Beer, wine, and cocktail kits are also available to order in select locations. Call your local restaurant to see if they are participating.

Benihana
All locations will be open for takeout and delivery.

Bonefish Grill
The seafood restaurant will offer a special carryout Easter menu of wood-grilled mahi and jumbo shrimp, served with salad, mac and cheese, veggies, bread, and dessert.

Boston Market
This year, Boston Market is offering family and individual meals for take-out, curbside pick-up, or delivery. They're also offering home shipment of pre-cooked holiday meals, entrees, or desserts. Check out their website for all the details!

Carrabba's Italian Grill
All locations will be open for delivery and carryout. Check out their family bundles to feed the whole crew

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is offering family bundles featuring family-size portions of favorite entrées, sides, and croissants. Beer and wine is also available to order in select locations. Cheddar’s is providing curbside to-go service, and free delivery is available in select areas.

Cheesecake Factory
Cheesecake Factory locations are open for Easter this year. As an added bonus, from now through Thursday, April 16, The Cheesecake Factory is offering a complimentary free slice of cheesecake for all orders of $30 or more through DoorDash delivery, online order to pick-up, or at Curbside To-Go. To receive the free slice, guests must add a slice of cheesecake to their purchase and include the promotion code “FREESLICE” at checkout.

Cracker Barrel
Cracker Barrel is offering a complete Heat n' Serve Family Meal To-Go for curbside pickup. The meal comes chilled and ready to heat and includes ham, hashbrown casserole, three sides, rolls, and two buttermilk pies. Be sure to order ahead!

Denny's
Guests can order online for carryout or delivery, including contactless delivery. New this year is a Grand Slam Pack that will serve four.

Domino's Pizza
Yes, you can order pizza and have the sit-down dinner you've imagined by giving Domino's a ring on Easter.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
All locations are open on Easter for to-go orders. Contact your local restaurant for specifics.

Fogo de Chão
The Brazilian steakhouse is offering Easter dinner bundles (including a choice of protein, sides, and cheese bread) and individual Easter meals. Order by April 11 for delivery or carryout.

IHOP
Most locations will be open and operating under regular hours on Easter, but you should call your local restaurant to confirm before you head out. Many restaurants are offering curbside pickup this year.

LongHorn Steakhouse
This Easter, use curbside pickup to get a family meal deal from LongHorn Steakhouse featuring an entrée, salad, and four sides (use code LH44 for 15% off). Guests can also order fresh steak cuts from the LongHorn Steak Shop to be made at home. Some locations offer alcoholic beverages.

McDonald's
Rejoice, burger lovers! Many McDonald's restaurants will be open on Easter Day 2020. Note that most of these establishments are independently owned, though, meaning their hours of operation do vary from store to store.

Olive Garden
This Easter, Olive Garden is offering carside pickup or free delivery for orders over $40, including family bundles of lasagna, chicken parmigiana, chicken alfredo with soup or salad and breadsticks. In select locations, guests can add beer and wine to their order.

Outback Steakhouse
All locations will be open this year. Call ahead for curbside takeaway options.

P.F. Chang's
Every location will be open on Easter for carryout.

Red Lobster
You don't need to celebrate Easter with ham and chocolate bunnies, you know! At Red Lobster, treat yourself to a wide variety of seafood-centric specials. While some Red Lobsters are closed at this time, most will be open for takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery. Call ahead to make sure yours is open.

Romano's Macaroni Grill
The pasta restaurant is offering family-style meals this year with choices like lasagna bolognese and Italian meatloaf with a choice of sides and desserts. Order ahead on the website.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
For 2020, their special Easter Celebration family meals feature prime rib or beef tenderloin with salad, sides, and dessert to feed 4-6 people. Call ahead to order for pickup or delivery.

Sonic Drive-In
Because the majority of the drive-ins are locally owned, holiday hours vary. However, some locations will be open for takeout on Easter. Make sure to check your local Sonic's hours.

Starbucks
Yes, you can satisfy your caffeine craving come Easter Sunday. Starbucks' Easter hours do vary by location, so call ahead to check on the options at your local Starbucks.

Texas Roadhouse
All locations will be open on Easter for takeout. Contact your local store for specials.

Waffle House
Good news for all the waffle lovers out there: All Waffle House restaurants are open 24 hours a day, every single day of the year. This year, they will be offering to-go options for Easter.

Whataburger
You can get your fix of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and onion rings at Whataburger on Easter Sunday. Most locations are offering curbside pickup and drive-thru options for Easter.

Netflix is a wonderful resource to use for educational learning. While not only can you turn on the subtitles to help your children learn to read faster (A Tip from a good friend...) - There are endless movies / videos that teach about every subject. Here are a few of our favorites.

PS - I do not own these logos or trademarks. I use only for the main purpose of providing a list of videos for education from these two websites/services.

PLEASE BE ADVISED TO LOOK AT THE RATINGS. SOME ARE BETTER FOR OLDER CHILDREN.
